At Malahide Counselling & Psychotherapy we try to make counselling available to everybody regardless of their economic situation and to that end offer a range of therapies and rates with both fully and pre-accredited therapists which are often lower than many other therapists and practices in Dublin.

Accredited Therapists : Our Accredited therapists set their own individual fee, the average rate being €80 per session: the actual fee depends on the therapist and the type of therapy involved, which in turn will be dictated by the issues involved, the age [child/teen/adult] or number [individual/couple] of people attending.

Typical fees range from €70 and €100 per session. Whilst the variation may seem to some a bit strange, one client’s issue may suit one way of working that only requires (for example) 4 sessions of one type of therapy at €100 (€400 total) whilst another may be suited to a different style of therapy and may do 6 or 7 sessions at €60 (€360/€420 total).

Should you be experiencing financial problems, at their own discretion, the therapist you are seeking to attend may be able to reduce their rate for you and you can discuss this with the therapist when you first make contact. At your first session with your therapist you will agree to your per-session fee which is payable directly to the therapist at the end of each session.

Affordable Counselling: In an effort to make Counselling as accessible to as many people as possible some of our therapists offer a limited number of appointments* at a reduced fee. Therapists try to allocate these slots to students, the unwaged and those who are struggling financially. If you feel a particular therapist’s fee is too high for you please contact them and ask if they have any ‘reduced fee’ slots available.

For further information please contact the therapist working on the day that suits you best.

*Due to demand for this :service clients may have to go on a waiting list until a space becomes available: appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Students studying Counselling & Psychotherapy: We are happy to work with students who are required to attend counselling as part of their course requirement. Please ask the therapist you are interested in working with if they offer a special student rate.

Cancellations and No-Shows: Should you cancel with very little notice or fail to turn up at an appointment you can expect to pay part or all of the fee for that session. Each therapist operate their own cancellation policy, the specifics of which the therapist will discuss with you when you attend your first session.
